Q & A

I'm new to counseling, what should I expect?

I recognize talking to a complete stranger can be stressful. My goal is always to create an open, warm, judgement free professional environment that allows you to feel at ease. In your first session, we will typically discuss your background and what led you to seek counseling. From there, we will set tangible goals for your mental health journey. I will assign mental health 'homework' so you can begin to practice healthy habits outside of counseling.

Why choose online rather than in-person counseling?

Although in-person counseling is beneficial for many, telehealth offers unique advantages that in-person counseling simply does not. Telehealth eliminates the stress of leaving the comfort of your own home, and having to drive through traffic which is a stressor for many individuals. Beyond this, telehealth allows many individuals to talk in an environment they know and are comfortable in, often cuddled up with their beloved pets. Telehealth can also be beneficial for college students who need to find time in between classes to connect with a counselor. Telehealth also allows you to keep a appointments that would otherwise have to be cancelled due to illness or travel difficulties.

How do payments work?

I am an in-network provider for Anthem Blue Cross Shield, United Health Care/Optum and Private Healthcare Systems. I accept private pay, with each session totaling fifty minutes for $120. Payments can be submitted through Venmo, PayPal, or Check.

Why is it important to seek therapy?

Everyone will experience a time in their life when nothing seems to go their way. Issues such as anxiety and depression are real struggles that millions of Americans fight alone every day. Having a neutral, unbiased, trained professional can help give you the tools and skills to cope with whatever life or mental health stressor you are facing. Research has shown therapy alone can have a 75% success rate1 . You don't have to face the fight along, I am here to help you carry that mental load.
